QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

ESSENTIAL:

  1. Possess a positive, outgoing and naturally curious Personality.
  2. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Presentation.
  3. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Body Language.
  4. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Verbiage.
  5. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  6. Ability to provide legible written communication.
  7. Ability to work cohesively with other employees as part of a team.
  8. High school graduate.
  9. Minimum 2-year facilities maintenance experience.
  10. Valid Driverís License and car insurance.
  11. Ability to drive between restaurant outlets.
  12. Legal ability to work in the US.
  13. Ability to do basic arithmetic.
  14. Ability to work a flexible workweek including nights, weekends and holidays.

 

DESIRABLE: 
  1. HVAC certification from an accredited university or trade school.
  2. College or trade school degree in related field.
  3. Experience in similar position.
  4. CPR certification.

JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of Ford Fry Restaurantís management style, practices, culture, terminology, organizational structure, and general philosophy. That Philosophy should be portrayed in the professional appearance, behavior, integrity, openness, and accessibility to employees and guests.
    1. Maintain a friendly yet unobtrusive manner with all guests when greeting them, conversing with them and throughout their dining experience.
    2. Manage multiple maintenance challenges and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion of each.
    3. Direct outsourced vendors/contractors to ensure quality work and timely completion for a reasonable price.
    4. Prioritize and thoroughly document assigned maintenance requests within established work order system to standard.
    5. Prioritize and immediately respond to guest-service related maintenance requests to ensure the highest standards of hospitality and guest service.
    6. Perform restaurant maintenance requests to standard:
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the operation, maintenance and location of all HVAC units that service each restaurant.
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the operation, maintenance and location of all water heaters that service each restaurant.
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the operation, maintenance and location of all kitchen equipment in each restaurant.
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the location and operation of the circuit breakers that service each restaurant.
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the operation and maintenance of all audiovisual equipment in each restaurant.
  • Engineers must be knowledgeable about the switches and lighting standard of each restaurant.
  • Engineer must always have their standard service items on their person during shift.
  • The Engineer must anticipate the service issue and gather the likely tools and equipment that they will need prior to departing.
  • The Engineer must secure a drop cloth in anticipation of any messy service issue.
  • The Engineer must secure a dustpan and hand broom in anticipation of any messy service issue.
  • The Engineer must stop what they are doing, make eye contact and smile at any guest that passes within 10 feet of their location.
  • The Engineer must greet any guest that passes within 5 feet of their location.


  1. Perform basic HVAC maintenance.
  2. Perform basic kitchen equipment repairs.
  3. Perform basic carpentry tasks.
  4. Perform basic plumbing repairs.
  5. Perform basic electrical tasks.
  6. Perform standard painting, stucco and wallpapering tasks.
  7. Demonstrate strong knowledge of all elements of Ford Fry Restaurantís TQM system.
  8. Attend and participate in all required meetings on a regular basis.
  9. Prepare clear and concise correspondence, memos, emails, instructions and reports, following the correct format.
  10. Respond properly in any restaurant emergency or safety situation.
  11. Anticipate, in advance, all materials and supplies and assure their availability.
  12. Ensure all Human Resource policies and practices are applied consistently while adhering to all Federal, State and Local laws.
  13. Participate in all inventories directly involved with the Engineering operation.
  14. Ensure appropriate and safe usage of Engineering equipment and tools.
  15. Observe daily conditions of all facilities and equipment in all Ford Fry Restaurants restaurants; make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
  16. Ensure a safe working environment for all employees within the Engineering areas.
  17. Promote good public relations and handle complaints or concerns of guests.
  18. Recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive or undesirable guests.
  19. Properly handle and report employee and guest accidents.
  20. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Chief Engineer.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:  

1. Work weekend coverage.
