1. Restaurant host stand and/or related Food & Beverage experience. 

2. Open Table experience.  

3. Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish. 

4. TIPS certification. 

5. CPR certification.

1.     Previous guest relations training 


1. Understand Ford Fry Restaurants style, practices, culture, terminology, organizational structure, and general philosophy. Use these principles as guideline for behavior.

2. Consistently follow all Employee Handbook policies and practices and adhere to all Federal, State, and Local laws.

3. Maintain professional appearance, behavior, quality of work, integrity, openness, and accessibility to employees and guests.

4. Set up the host/hostess stand, review the reservation book and make recommendations as to the set up of the room.

5. Inspect every menu and list to ensure optimal condition.

6. Develop a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients and what is unavailable for the day.

7.  Know the server stations, their daily assignments, their personal timing patterns and their maximum workload capacity.

8. Conform to service philosophy and all points of service outlined in the Service and Training Manual.

9. Answer telephones according to The Ford Fry Restaurant’s standards and take reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or any other restaurant service.

 10. Maintain a friendly yet unobtrusive manner with all guests when greeting them, seating them, and throughout their dining experience.

11. Handle guests without reservations or those waiting for others to join them.

12. Maintain a Seating Card system for the restaurant.

13. Handle lost or found items.

14. Check guest’s coats or packages when necessary.

15. Understand be able to perform all aspects of opening and closing side duties (‘sidework sheets’)

16. Anticipate guests’ needs by constantly scanning the room and picking up cues from facial expression, body language, and demeanor.

17. When problems arise, address quickly, appropriately, and proactively when possible.

18. Maintain attendance and timeliness in accordance with the Employee Handbook and the restaurants’ schedule.

19. Respect guest and restaurant confidentiality.

20. Work to maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.

21. Recognize and address potentially intoxicated, disruptive, or undesirable guests.

22. Report unsafe working conditions, operational needs, and equipment or other aspects of the restaurant in need of repair to management.

23. Properly handle and report guest and employee accidents.

24. Attend and participate in all required meetings.

25. Use BEO to prepare necessary and effective mis-en-place for any function.

26. Service all needs for any private event or function.

27. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Ford Fry Restaurants management.
