Bartender

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:          

1. Possess a positive, outgoing and naturally curious Personality.

2. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Presentation.

3. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Body Language.

4. Ability to follow the Ford Fry Restaurants standards of Verbiage.

5. Legal ability to work in the US.

6. High school graduate.

7. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

8. Proficiency in basic mathematical computations and reasoning.

9. Basic critical thinking capability.

10. 2 years’ bartending experience in a high quality restaurant.

11. Ability to work a flexible workweek including nights, weekends, and holidays.

12. Ability to communicate clearly and courteously.

13. Strong knowledge of high quality restaurant and bar service.                          

DESIRABLE:     

1. luency in a foreign language, preferably French or Spanish.

2. Graduate of an accredited bartending school.

3. CPR certification.

4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

 PROBATIONARY: 

1. TIPS Certification

2. Pass both food and beverage tests with a 90% or better score.

3. Successful completion of the following Ford Fry Restaurants training modules:

 ESSENTIAL SKILLS:                

1. Ability to work cohesively and to support unity within the staff.

2. Openness to guests and employees.

3. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

4. Awareness of all bar product quality standards and ability to consistently maintain them.

5. Thorough knowledge of all beverage products available in the restaurant of employ, including cocktail inspiration and history.

6. Ability to speak intelligently about all wines offered in the restaurant of employ.

7. Strong knowledge of food with particular strength in the menus of the restaurant of employ.

8. Ability to properly execute all cocktails on the menu to the recipe standard from memory.

9. Ability to properly execute all classic cocktails to standard from memory.

10. Ability to monitor product quality and resolve issues to maintain the integrity of the beverage program.

11. Ability to perform Ford Fry Restaurants Bartender Steps of Service.

12.  Ability to follow a checklist.

13. Ability to work any shift or station behind the bar with minimal supervision.

14. Ability to take cues from guests’ and staff members’ behavior and demeanor as to their level of satisfaction or happiness and to address any issues that arise in a proactive manner.

15. Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and bar.

16. Understanding and ability to adhere to all Ford Fry Restaurants standards, policies, and procedures.

17. Understanding, awareness, and concern for safety and security and knowledge of how to report any incidents.

18. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality, including matters relating to guests, staff, the restaurant, and the company.

DEVELOPMENTAL: 

Complete the following Ford Fry Restaurants training modules:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1. Understand Ford Fry Restaurants style, practices, culture, terminology, organizational structure, and general philosophy. Use these principles as guideline for behavior.

2. Consistently follow all Employee Handbook policies and practices and adhere to all Federal, State, and Local laws.

3. Maintain professional appearance, behavior, quality of work, integrity, openness, and accessibility to employees and guests.

4. Prepare all cocktails on the menu to the recipe standard from memory.

5. Prepare all classic cocktails to standard from memory.

6. Offer guests of the restaurant an expertly served bar/dining experience.

7. Conform to service philosophy and all points of service outlined in the Service and Training Manual.

8. Understand and consistently exhibit the ability to speak intelligently about all food and beverage items offered at the restaurant of employ. Use this ability to guide guests through the menu.

9. Perform all aspects of opening and closing bar duties to checklist standard.

10. Anticipate guests’ needs by constantly scanning the bar and picking up cues from facial expression, body language, and demeanor.

11. Leading a shift, assigning roles among the bartenders and redistributing effort where needed.

12. Check in orders and maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and bar. 

13. Assist in period-end inventory when needed.

14. When problems arise, address quickly, appropriately, and proactively when possible.

15. Maintain attendance and timeliness in accordance with the Employee Handbook and the restaurants’ schedule.

16. Respect guest and restaurant confidentiality.

17. Work to maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.

18. Recognize and address potentially intoxicated, disruptive, or undesirable guests.

19. Report unsafe working conditions, operational needs, and equipment or other aspects of the restaurant in need of repair to management.

20. Properly handle and report guest and employee accidents.

21. Respond properly to restaurant emergencies or safety situations.

22. Attend and participate in all required meetings.

23. Use BEO to prepare necessary and effective mis-en-place for any function.

24. Service all needs for any private event or function.

25. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Ford Fry Restaurants management.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
